Hey guys! Enjoying the Spring weather? Now that Linsanity is over, I have a very exciting update – My single “Counting On You” has just entered onto the Hot AC Top-40 chart! For those like my Mom who don’t know what a “Hot” or an “AC” means, it stands for Hot Adult Contemporary, which is a huge national radio format. So big that I just did an interview with VH1! Anyway, I’m currently the only unsigned artist in the country on the chart, and seeing my name next to The Fray, Gavin DeGraw and Colbie Caillat has been a humbling experience.
Your support is a big reason these radio stations took a shot on me, so I owe you all a huge thank you, and some ice cream. We’ve made it this far, but now the battle really begins. To stay in the top-40 and climb up the chart, I need you guys to show some love and request my song on the stations playing it. You can call, e-mail, even tweet to them and simply say “play that amazingly, ridiculously awesome Mikey Wax song Counting On You“. You know, nothing too crazy. On the touring front, Summer dates are in the works! For my NYC fans, you can find me playing piano and singing on Wednesday May 2nd opening for Matt White. Tickets are on sale here. I’m also headlining in Nashville & Louisville May 8th and May 9th! Info here.

Hello friends – I hope you’re all having a great weekend and enjoying this perfect fall weather. As of late, I’ve kept my e-mails very brief as to not annoy or waste your time. However in doing so, I also feel as if my last few e-mails have lacked some of the heart or appreciation that I truly feel for those of you reading. I’m writing to you from Central Park after just getting home from 5 months of consistent touring beginning in June. Reflecting on the past few months, I have this huge appreciation for everything I’ve experienced both this tour and since the beginning of my career.
A little over 2 years ago, I nervously put out my first album “Change Again”. This e-mail list had just over 1,000 people at the time (mostly family and friends), and I had no idea what to expect. The strong initial support and word-of-mouth helped the album to make the iTunes top 50 pop chart. Today’s e-mail will now be read by over 18,000 of you guys. I’m still nervous, but whenever you joined on board, your support for my music has been so amazing and has allowed me to accomplish several awesome things so far with my career. Most recently, my new album “Constant Motion” has landed in Billboard Magazine on their heatseakers chart, as well as the iTunes top 10 singer/songwriter chart! As an unsigned/indpendent artist, I can’t tell you what a thrill this has all been, and how grateful I am to have each of you.
In the past, I’ve had the opportunity to play live for many of you opening for well-established artists like Elliott Yamin, Howie Day, Landon Pigg, etc. For the first time in a while, I will be headlining a few venue shows in the North East including NYC, Boston, DC, Philly and Westport, CT. I will need all of your support to help me pack out these venues and make it a success! In addition to my November tour, I’m happy to announce that thanks to the amount of requests (over 300) for last Summer’s house concert tour, I will be extending that tour through December and taking more requests! A few of you have asked me to express personal thoughts more often in e-mails or on twitter. I know where my strengths lay, and that is in observations put into song. But if you want to know where my thoughts are at the moment, I would suggest taking a listen to “Marion” on my new record. Marion was my grandmother who I never got to meet. It’s who I’m named after. Sometimes we’re told childhood stories by those older than us, and like an old TV show, I can’t help but picture those stories in black and white. While I know the generation before me faced many similar struggles that we still face today, it seemed to me like a simpler time. Marion passed down a white dress she once wore to my mother, and after seeing my mom in the dress, it gave me a connection to my grandmother and the past that I never could have experienced otherwise.
